Our Committee

Let me introduce to you the Committee for this year!

Becky – President

Becky“Hi, I’m Becky and I’m the President of the Riding Club. I’m a third year Marketing Communications student and have been part of the club ever since my first year. I have been heavily involved in some major changes of the club. I have worked hard at making the club bigger and better and throughout my year as President I hope to carry on with this. I was Participation Officer last year and organised our come back into the Friendly League, which is a great thing to get into if you don’t have the time for BUCS, or wish to use this as a step up into BUCS. Away from University I compete in mainly dressage but hope when I leave University to go into British Eventing. Being part of the club has given back the confidence I had before in jumping. I have been riding since I was four years old and am pony mad, everything I do has some relevance to do with horses. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me, I am always up for a little chit chat especially when it has something to do with horses or the riding club.”

Cathy – Vice-President

Cathy“Hi I am Cathy and I will be Becky’s support as VP. I am in my second year studying Law and Psychology. I will be mainly running the friendly league comps and help run the club competitions this year and also varsity. I also support the running of lessons and all things of UWE Riding! I am horse mad and regularly compete in all spheres with my horse Bo. If you have any questions don’t be afraid to approach/email me!”

Natalie – Publicity and Media Officer

227467_1946908081393_221519_n“Hi I’m Natalie, and I’m the Media and Publicity Officer for UWE Riding this year, so I’ll be promoting all our activities and seeking sponsors for the club! Before joining the riding club, I was mostly a happy hacker with my cob Domino, but the riding club has given me the opportunity to compete on the Friendlies’ league and compete at Varsity last year. I have an interest in natural horsemanship and love to chat, so feel free to tackle me (not literally please!) about horses if you see me around campus.”

Shannah – Events and Fundraising

Shannah“Hi, I’m Shannah! I’m a 2nd year Psychology student and joined the club in my first year. I’d never ridden before (despite begging my mum for years!) but joining the club has been the best decision I’ve made so far at uni. It’s so rewarding to learn something new which is so much fun and make some awesome friends while you do it! I’m hoping to organise some really good events this year which you won’t want to miss out on, so make sure you join ASAP! If you have any questions or just fancy a chat about ponies, you can send me a message on Facebook or come find me feeding polos to the horses at Summerhouse EC on Wednesdays!”

Amy – BUCS Vice Captain

Amy“Hi, I’m Amy! I’m Vice Team Captain of our BUCS teams. I’m in my third year at UWE studying Physiotherapy and have been a member of the club since I started university in 2012. I have been very fortunate to have ridden in both our BUCS 1st and 2nd team competitions since I joined and in 2014 managed to qualify individually to compete at the BUCS National Championships. I have ridden and worked with horses from a young age (including studying at an equestrian college) and had my own horse for 5 years up until I came to UWE. My role for this year involves working alongside Emily (BUCS Team Captain) in organising anything BUCS related inc. training sessions, competitions etc and also to act as a friendly face to turn to for advice whether its BUCS related or not! Feel free to ask me any questions or do stop me for a chat if you see me! (I’m mainly based on Glenside Campus)”

Chloe – Equipment and Safety Officer

“Hi I’m Chloe and I’m the Equipment and Safety Officer for the riding club this year! I’m a second year Radiography student and rode for the UWE BUCS 2nd team last year. I have really enjoyed being part of the club and am excited to have an active role on committee. Outside uni I have competed my horse, Ronnie, successfully at prelim and novice British Dressage, qualifying for regional championships and area festivals for the last two years. Feel free to message me if you have any questions!”
